Latest Version Boosts Secure Document Delivery Capabilities
Through Added Database Integration,
Encryption Options and Message Relay Capabilities
Omtool, Ltd. (NASDAQ: OMTL), a leading provider of secure electronic document delivery products, today announced the availability of Genidocs(TM) 1.2, the latest version of its secure e-mail software. Genidocs 1.2's new features, such as Microsoft Office XP support, a server-to-server message gateway and improved authentication, give businesses increased flexibility when implementing secure e-mail options within an existing e-mail system. Enhancements to Genidocs will also be extended to Genidocs Legal Edition, Omtool's secure e-mail software for the legal market.
A key feature in Genidocs 1.2, Secure Message Relay, enables businesses that frequently exchange high volumes of sensitive documents to send and receive secure e-mail as simply as traditional e-mail. Transparent to both senders and recipients, Secure Message Relay automates at the server level many of the extra steps required for secure messaging, such as encryption, password retrieval and digital signatures. Genidocs has also strengthened its authentication features with the addition of recipient self-registration, which ensures that personal information is not distributed via e-mail. SQL database integration is another important addition to Genidocs 1.2 because it allows companies to benefit from the advantages of this powerful database.
"The volume of traditional mail has just seen its largest drop in 30 years, and corporate budget cutbacks and security concerns are the main factors behind the plunge," said Scott Dockendorff, vice president of worldwide marketing for Omtool. "Businesses are scrambling to find document delivery alternatives, and the new version of Genidocs is ideal because its advanced authentication and administrative flexibility facilitates secure messaging without a vast expenditure of budget or IT resources."
Genidocs is a cost-effective, easy-to-use method of safeguarding Internet-based e-mail communications that is built on a common Windows 2000 architecture for complete flexibility. Genidocs' confirmed and secure electronic document delivery capabilities integrate readily with existing e-mail systems, and add capabilities such as digital signatures, PDF/Zip conversion and packaging, encryption (including PKI), recipient authentication, delivery notification, audit trails and 3rd party time stamps. To end-users, these features simply appear as additional options in familiar interfaces such as Outlook and Lotus Notes. For administrators, Genidocs is simple to install, manage and customize, and it requires no desktop software installation or training.
New Genidocs 1.2 enhancements include:
--Secure Message Relay: Businesses in continuous communication can exchange encrypted e-mail without requiring users to complete additional steps typically required in secure electronic delivery
-- Recipient Self-Registration: Secure e-mail recipients can register their own user name, password and hint so passwords are never sent via e-mail
-- SQL and Access Database Support
-- 128-Bit PDF Encryption Support
-- Web-based Message Creation and Delivery Tracking
"Omtool wants every business, regardless of their existing technical infrastructure, to be able to take advantage of secure electronic document delivery," continued Dockendorff. "Genidocs not only allows companies to conduct electronic communications at the level of security their business necessitates, they can do so in a way that dramatically reduces costs and is completely familiar to end-users."
Genidocs 1.2 is available in two versions: Basic Server and Advanced Server. To receive comprehensive information regarding the enhancements and features for Genidocs 1.2, please contact Omtool sales at 1-800-886-7845 or http://www.omtool.com.
