LEBANON, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 4, 2002
Fluent Inc., world leader in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software, announces the release of GAMBIT 2.0, its general-purpose preprocessor for CFD analysis.
G/Turbo is an integral part of GAMBIT 2.0 and is designed specifically for meshing turbomachinery applications.
"GAMBIT 2.0 continues to allow engineers easier access into the CFD world," says Erling Eklund, Fluent's GAMBIT Product Market Manager. "With improved CAD integration and enhanced meshing tools, GAMBIT 2.0's features set new industry standards in meshing software," adds Eklund.
Improved CAD Integration
GAMBIT 2.0 directly accesses Pro/ENGINEER(TM)'s geometry engine, eliminating translation losses. With an upgraded geometry kernel, GAMBIT's CAD translators support ACIS 6.3 and improve speed and robustness.
Automated Meshing
GAMBIT 2.0's automated tetrahedral, hexahedral and hybrid meshing functions improve the quality of the mesh. Fully-automatic, high-quality meshing can now be achieved in models of any complexity. Tremendous timesavings are realized by GAMBIT 2.0's ability to automatically refine meshes in areas of strong curvature and small gaps.
G/Turbo for Anything Turbo
"G/Turbo is an application focussed preprocessor which is completely integrated with the regular GAMBIT interface. Using this approach enabled us to produce an easy-to-use, automated tool that retains all the flexibility of GAMBIT," explains Craig Hornsby, G/Turbo Product Manager.
G/Turbo is a tool that enables the rapid creation of FLUENT meshes for turbomachinery applications. It offers the unique advantage of both structured and unstructured meshing, so while idealized geometries can be created very quickly, innovative design features may also be incorporated and their effects analyzed. It is supplied as an add-on to GAMBIT 2.0, and supports many industry standard formats including Pro/ENGINEER(TM), ACIS, IGES, STEP and Parasolid.
Availability
GAMBIT 2.0 is now available from Fluent Inc. Visit Fluent's web site (www.fluent .com) for a listing of worldwide offices and distributors.
About Fluent
Fluent is the world's largest provider of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and consulting services. Fluent's software is used for simulation, visualization, and prediction of fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, and chemical reactions. It is a vital part of the computer-aided engineering (CAE) process for companies around the world and in almost every manufacturing industry. Using Fluent's software, product development, design and research engineers build virtual prototypes and simulate the performance of proposed and existing designs, which helps them to optimize, troubleshoot, scale-up, and retrofit. Use of CFD software reduces time-to-market by reducing the need for costly physical testing and prototyping.
Fluent's corporate headquarters are located in Lebanon, New Hampshire, USA. Fluent's European headquarters are located in Sheffield, England, with local offices in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, and Sweden. Fluent's Asia Pacific headquarters are located in Tokyo, Japan. Its CFD software is also available around the world through joint ventures, partnerships, and distributors in Korea, Australia, Brazil, China, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, Middle East, and most European countries.
