Venture-Backed IPOs Begin to Rebound in 4th Quarter According to Thomson Financial/Venture Economics and the National Venture Capital Association

After a modest showing in the third quarter, the venture-backed IPO market rebounded decisively in the fourth quarter, as 14 U.S. venture-backed companies raised $1.45 billion, according to Thomson Financial/Venture Economics and the National Venture Capital Association. While down from the year-ago period, the fourth quarter was the largest quarter of 2001, in terms of both the number and dollar volume of venture-backed IPOs.
