Help Mac Users Better Manage Digital Content
Imation Corp. (NYSE:IMN), a worldwide leader in data storage and information management, today announced it will feature its complete portfolio of personal storage solutions, which includes an expanding line of digital devices, drives, media and accessories, in Booth No. 425 during Macworld Conference & Expo at the Moscone Center, January 8-11, 2002.
"Today's Mac users are inundated with a variety of digital information - from video and photos, to music and data, and are looking for simple, portable storage solutions to help them better manage all their digital content," said Steve Carter, vice president and general manager, Imation's Personal Storage Solutions Business. "Imation is committed to delivering high-quality personal storage solutions that provide users with the resources they need to more quickly and efficiently access and manage all their digital information."
Imation Expands Personal Storage with New Devices
The most recent addition to Imation's expanding line of digital devices, the Imation RipGO!(TM) mini CD-R burner and digital audio player, is the smallest device available today for both recording compressed music on CDs and high-performance playback of digital music in MP3 and other digital audio formats -- delivering an all-in-one experience for creating, capturing, and playing digital music on computers and portable music players. Plus, its sleek, battery-powered USB CD-R drive uses mini (80mm) CD-R discs to store and play up to 185MB of digital information or three hours playback with MP3.
The Imation FlashGO!(TM) Desktop reader/writer is the world's first mass storage compliant multi-slot flash memory card reader/writer designed to support all flash/memory card formats, including Compact Flash (Type I and II), Smart Media, Multimedia Card, Secure Digital, Memory Stick, and IBM's Microdrive. Ideal for multi-device owners who want the flexibility and portability of one reader/writer to download or upload all of their memory card digital information to and from the Mac, the device also allows for easy drag-and-drop functionality between various flash memory card formats. The Imation FlashGO! Desktop device builds on the momentum of the portable, single-slot Imation FlashGO! reader/writer, and is slated for availability in first half of 2002.
Storage Media Gets Smaller and Faster
Imation will also preview one of its newest storage media offerings, Imation DataPlay digital media - the affordable, miniature optical media, which is approximately the size of a quarter. Imation DataPlay digital media is designed to let users download and record 500MB of digital content - music, books, games, images, computer files - on a single disc and play it back on any DataPlay-enabled device, such as digital music players, e-books, portable games or digital cameras. A single Imation DataPlay digital media disc is capable of holding a staggering amount of information, whether it's hours of music, hundreds of photographs or volumes of written information, all with an estimated archival life of 100 years. Imation is the first U.S.-based manufacturer of both blank and pre-recorded DataPlay digital media, as well as a worldwide distribution partner. Products are expected to be available in select retailers by first half of 2002.
Imation will highlight its new Imation 32X CD-R media - a recordable CD designed for the next wave of high-speed CD-R and CD-RW drives. The write-once discs, available in silver, black and five neon colors, offer an increased storage capacity of 700MB of data or up to 80 minutes for audio files.
Imation's new line of small format optical media includes mini (80mm) and Business Card CD-R media. The new mini (80mm) CD-R discs can hold up to 185MB of digital information or six hours compressed audio files- ideal for such applications as video, audio, photos, PowerPoint presentations and personal Web sites. Imation's Business Card CD-R discs feature a write speed of up to 16X and can hold up to 50MB of information or 5.5 minutes of audio files. These tiny CDs can provide detailed information about your company, portfolio of products and services, PowerPoint presentations, personnel files and much more. Availability for Business Card CD-R is slated for January 2002.
Imation continues to expand its line of DVD media offerings, with the latest addition of 4.7GB DVD RW. This rewritable format is designed to achieve excellent two-way compatibility with current and future DVD drives and video players. For use only with DVD Recordable drives that support DVD RW blank media, this technology provides an easy-to-use solution that can be shared in the office and living room for a variety of data and video applications. Imation currently offers a variety of DVD media products, including 4.7GB DVD-R, and 4.7/9.4GB DVD-RAM media.
