Esual Software today announced it has won the Golden Message award in partnership with Siemens for an interactive email campaign marketing Siemens new SL45 mobile phone. This award recognizes Siemens' use of Esual's Internet application deployment technology delivered via email that gave recipients an interactive product demonstration. The technologically advanced email highlights the physical features of the phone, without forcing buyers to download a plug-in, click on a URL, or tolerate unnecessary wait times. The Golden Message awards, sponsored by marketing publication Marketing Direct, were held earlier this year and examined 34 emailing campaigns in the categories of business-to-consumer emailing, business-to-business emailing and SMS.

Esual's technology enables companies like Siemens to transparently download applications or parts of applications to the user's desktop. Reduced interaction with the server means the images on the screen can be easily manipulated without the lengthy download time usually associated with interactive product visualizations. Siemens sent the email to customers that had previously expressed an interest in receiving online games and information and it has had a response 54 percent greater than in previous campaigns.

"We were aware that in creating an interactive product demonstration as the crux of an email campaign it was crucial that the image was easily and speedily manipulated," said Karine Buisson, mobile phone project manager at Siemens. "We have been very impressed with what we can achieve with Esual and intend to develop interactive campaigns using Esual in the future."

The judges, from companies including BNP Paribas, La Redoute, La Poste and AOL, identified a number of features of the interactive email, which put Siemens in a class above the other competitors. They were particularly impressed with the image and the ease of use of the email where the user could rotate the phone and zoom in on different features to see them close up. The functionality of the phone is also featured in the email so it is not necessary to go to an external website to get the full picture. Using Esual's technology the email took only two days to create.

Siemens took advantage of several executables from the Esual Standard Library: 360 Degree Object(TM) to show the phone's side buttons and the ergonomics of the phone; Salesman(TM) to pin-point hard-to-see features, such as the digital voice recorder, MP3 player, and WAP connectivity; and Animator(TM) to demonstrate how easy it is to use the phone's multimedia card.

"This award confirms what we have believed for some time," said Bruno Saint-Cast, CEO of Esual Software. "In order for email and e-marketing to come into its own as a successful channel to market, companies have to offer the functionality that the customer expects -- to almost be able to see and feel the product itself. However, if the product presentation is slow and clumsy the consumer's attention is lost and with it the possibility of a sale. We congratulate Siemens on their success in this and are proud to be a part of it."
