Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. (Nasdaq:PSUN) is celebrating summer in a monstrous way with its Eight Legged Freaks Sweepstakes, offering in-store and online visitors the chance to win a trip to Australia to see the Globe World Cup Skateboarding event, a new Kawasaki motocross bike, along with shoes and accessories from Globe Shoes.
The movie promotion sweepstakes begins July 13 in all PacSun stores and on the PacSun Web site. Signage in all stores instructs consumers to enter the contest online at www.pacsun.com.
Tying in with the new Warner Bros. Pictures movie starring David Arquette, the Eight Legged Freaks Sweepstakes also promotes PacSun vendor Globe Shoes and new marketing partner, Kawasaki.
The Grand Prize is a week-long trip for two to Melbourne, Australia to attend the Globe World Cup Skateboarding event, eight pairs of Globe shoes, a Globe gift pack that includes a backpack, sweatshirt and hat, and an Eight Legged Freaks T-shirt and autographed movie poster. The First Prize winner will receive a new Kawasaki KX 125 motocross bike (as featured in the movie) valued at $5,000.
"This is a movie sweepstakes that appeals to our audience on a variety of levels and provides our consumers with the chance to win some amazing prizes from some very cool companies," said Tim Harmon, president and chief merchandising officer for PacSun. "It's a great way to boost sales and traffic in-store and online, as well as deliver added value and excitement to our customers."
"Our target audience for this motion picture is teens and young adults. PacSun stores are a great exposure venue for our movie and this sweeps," said Louise Soper, director of national promotions for Warner Bros. Pictures. "What better place to reach our target audience than where they hang out -- the malls and online," she added.
In addition to the two weeks of exposure in PacSun stores and six weeks of promotion on PacSun.com, the Eight Legged Freaks Sweepstakes will be promoted on the Web sites of marketing partners Warner Bros., Globe, Kawasaki, AOL and MSN, as well as through PacSun's 3,000-plus affiliate Web sites.
Concurrent with the movie sweepstakes, PacSun stores and Web site are featuring a free gift promotion with Globe Shoes. Customers can receive one of eight free gifts -- from T-shirts to caps and belts -- with the purchase of Globe Shoes.
