Whatman, an international leader in separations technology, is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Finance Director, aimed at reinforcing its program of operational change and strategic development.

Stuart P. Miller has been appointed as Group Finance Director, effective 16th July 2002.

He was previously CFO-Group Enodis plc, an international food equipment manufacturer with revenues of circa $1.3 million in 2001. Prior senior financial positions include Group Finance Director, Dexion Group Ltd; Finance Director, International Packaging, Rexam plc and Director of Corporate Finance at I.D.V. Ltd., the drinks sector of Grand Metropolitan plc.

Stuart, who is a chartered accountant, has broad experience of finance roles within the service, distribution, FMCG and manufacturing sectors. He has also worked closely with the capital markets and brings relevant mergers and acquisitions skills to his new role.

He will be based at Whatman's Maidstone UK headquarters and is expected to join the Board of the Company shortly.

Stuart will replace Harry Cooper, who steps down as Group Finance Director, but who will continue to assist Whatman with its current restructuring, where he has already made a major contribution.

Tim Coombs, Whatman CEO commented: "Stuart brings a wealth of international financial management experience from a number of highly respected organizations. His recent success in managing change is particularly relevant to Whatman today and his mergers and acquisitions experience will help us deliver our longer term plans for significant growth.

Stuart Miller commented: "I am delighted to be joining Whatman plc at this significant time of change and I look forward to working with Tim and his team and helping to maximise the opportunities that lie ahead for Whatman.
