Dell Introduces Two New SmartStep Notebook Computers; 200N Series Offers Customers Pentium 4 Performance in Affordable, Workhorse Notebooks

For mobile computer users who are looking for notebook computers with high processor speeds at an exceptional price, Dell (Nasdaq:DELL) today expanded its easy-to-buy SmartStep product family with two new portable systems, the SmartStep(tm) 200N and the SmartStep 250N.
Priced at $1,499 and $1,899(a) respectively, the new Ion Silver-colored systems bring the power of the desktop to an affordable, all-in-one notebook, featuring Intel(R) Pentium(tm) 4 processors, bright 15-inch displays and DVD movie drives.
The SmartStep product line offers Dell U.S. and Canadian customers pre-built, no-hassle configurations that are designed to handle everyday computing needs like surfing the Internet, managing e-mail, and basic productivity applications. Both of the new SmartStep portables offer aggressively priced robust configurations, including a one year limited warranty(b).
The 200N, priced at $1,499, comes with an Intel Pentium 4 processor at 2.0 GHz, 256 MB system memory, a 15-inch XGA display, 32 MB ATI Video graphics, 30 GB(c) hard disk drive and 8X max. DVD drive. The 250N, priced at $1,899, features an Intel Pentium 4 processor at 2.2GHz, 256 MB system memory, a higher resolution 15-inch SXGA display, 32 MB ATI Video graphics, a bigger 40 GB hard disk drive and a multi-function DVD/CD-RW optical drive.
Both the SmartStep 200N and 250N also come with an integrated modem, 10/100 Ethernet port, IEEE 1394 and S-Video out ports, five EasyLaunch keys and a dedicated hardware volume control.
To meet a range of home productivity and entertainment needs, the new notebook computers come with Microsoft's Windows(R) XP Home Edition operating system, Word Perfect Productivity Suite, Music Match software for listening to digital music, Dell Picture Studio for processing and sharing digital photos and six months of America Online(d) or DellNet by MSN(e) membership (new members only).
