Intuit (Nasdaq:INTU), the leading provider of financial software and Web-based services for consumers, small businesses and accounting professionals, today announced Quicken(R) 2003 for Mac, a new solution that reduces the real pain of personal financial management -- manual data entry.
"The number-one request from our customers is for us to reduce the time and hassle associated with managing their finances," said Roy Rosin, General Manager, Quicken. "With features like Scheduled Updates, a single register for cash and investment transactions and an enhanced customizable tool bar, Quicken 2003 for Mac takes the headache out of managing finances."
"Mac OS X's refined Aqua user interface and robust UNIX-based architecture have triggered the development of numerous high-quality applications for the platform, convincing many consumers to switch to the Mac," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "Quicken is a top selling application for the Mac, and our customers will be thrilled with Intuit's latest solution for managing their personal finances."
In addition to making it easier to set up accounts for online download, now "always up-to-date" data is a reality with Quicken 2003 for Macintosh's Scheduled Updates feature. This feature allows you to control when you want Quicken to receive updated information from your financial institution via the Internet by setting a schedule for each one independently. Through Scheduled Updates, you can also automatically retrieve stock quotes for your portfolio in Quicken, helping you stay on top of your investments. Quicken for Mac connects to over 1,200 banks, credit card companies, and brokerages -- including Fidelity Investments, Harrisdirect (formerly CSFBdirect), RBC Dain Rauscher, and TD Waterhouse.
Reviewing downloaded data is faster and more streamlined through a single window that enables you to select your bank, credit card or investing account transactions to review and accept. For users who do not download transactions, Quicken 2003 now includes a tutorial that showcases the benefits of downloading transactions. "In the past, you couldn't see the benefits of downloading transactions until you signed up for the service. Now, we've improved the visibility of this feature with a simple guide that demonstrates the time-saving value of downloading transactions from your various financial institutions," said Rosin.
Quicken has always made it easy to track basic investments. As the investing world has become more complex, Quicken 2003 for Mac has kept pace allowing you to track more advanced investments including: stock splits, mergers, spinouts and spin-offs.
With its new cash management capabilities, you no longer have to link a separate checking account to your brokerage account to track checks written and deposits made from an investment portfolio account.
The improved customizable tool bar helps make it easier to find the features you use most often in Quicken.
These new and enhanced features, including the Capital Gains Estimator that allows you to see the potential impact of investing decisions before you trade, provide you with the tools you need to help you make better, more informed investment decisions.
Quicken 2003 for Mac, which is built for Mac OS X, but will also work with Mac OS 9, is expected to be available in retail outlets on August 21, 2002. Customers will be able to pre-order the product via www.quicken2003.com beginning July 25, 2002. For more information, please call 800/952-2558.
