According to the Forbes.com "Technology Survey 2002":
Senior Executives Are More Involved With IT
Solutions & Purchase Decisions Than Ever Before
Senior corporate executives are more involved than ever in their company's technology business solutions and related purchase decisions, according to technology survey results released today by Forbes.com.
This is not surprising considering the current downturn in the U.S. economy.
The online survey, conducted by Insight Express on behalf of Forbes.com, also looked at C-level executives' attitudes about technology and expectations for future corporate investments in information technologies. The "Forbes.com Technology Survey 2002" is available free at www.forbes.com/research. Some highlights:
Technology Investments & Related Decision Making
- C-level executives use the Web throughout the workday and even more so before and after regular business hours on weekdays; on weekends, they spend 10% more time online than non C-level execs. - C-level executives rely on the Web to help in their technology investment decision-making.
Attitudes Toward Technology
- Regardless of title, both C-level execs and non C-level execs
think that the use of technology leads to efficiency and
productivity and that technology proficiency is a required
core company competency.
Online Activities
- C-level executives use the Web throughout the workday and even more so before and after regular business hours on weekdays; on weekends, they spend 10% more time online than non C-level execs. - C-level executives rely on the Web to help in their technology investment decision-making.
"Given the depressed state of the technology sector, we were pleasantly surprised that the C-suite is bullish about their IT spending plans," said Forbes.com President and CEO James Spanfeller. "The survey results also underscore our belief that C-level executives are even more critical targets for IT marketers, in addition to traditional IT management - and that the Internet is the place to reach senior-level executives with their branding messages."
