PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 2002
PeopleSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT) today announced that Oakland County, Michigan has selected PeopleSoft Strategic Sourcing to manage its procurement of goods, services and capital equipment. By managing the complete source-to-settle process online, Oakland County can better leverage its purchasing power by enabling local suppliers to gain direct access to the bidding process for county contracts.
"With a county's purchasing requirements ranging from school supplies to county vehicles, we needed a flexible solution to address our complex sourcing requirements," said Joe Hylla, Manager of Purchasing for Oakland County. "PeopleSoft Strategic Sourcing will allow us to streamline every phase of our sourcing process and maximize our spending power to cut costs, and more importantly boost taxpayer value."
PeopleSoft Strategic Sourcing will expand local suppliers' access to Oakland County contracts by enabling purchasing agents to post requests for quotes to multiple suppliers and online marketplaces simultaneously. The solution also provides the infrastructure to support public sector mandates such as blind and sealed bidding. As a result, Oakland County will be able to efficiently comply with complex regulations and streamline the bidding process. In addition, purchasing agents can define multiple criteria to automatically score supplier responses, improving the speed and consistency of the evaluation process. By connecting purchasing agents and suppliers in real-time, Oakland County will benefit from shorter sourcing cycles and increased supplier competition for county business.
"PeopleSoft is enabling the public sector to take advantage of the same best practices that the private sector has successfully used to drive down supply costs," said Mike Frandsen, general manager of PeopleSoft's Supply Chain Management division. "Our Strategic Sourcing solution ensures that all supplier responses are evaluated through an efficient, repeatable process. This allows the government to get the most value out of every taxpayer dollar."
Strategic Sourcing is a key component of PeopleSoft's award-winning Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) solution. Oakland County has also licensed additional applications from the PeopleSoft SRM solution including eProcurement and Purchasing.
