SIMI VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 23, 2002

NovaStor announces the release of NovaXchange 3.0, the data interchange software that enables large corporations and government agencies to migrate data from legacy systems to Windows-based systems. This new release contains dozens of improvements and enhancements, including the ability to support tape libraries and access remote tape drives via the network.

NovaXchange is perfect for Fortune 1000 and government agencies with the need to migrate legacy data from UNIX and Mainframe systems to their more common Windows platform. Since most of this data exists on old format tape media, NovaXchange is capable of reading data directly from most types of tapes.

NovaXchange is capable of performing extensive standard or custom conversion tasks while moving data, accommodating the data format differences between the source and destinations. For example, Mainframe data format, EBCDIC, and Windows data format, ASCII, are incompatible and require a conversion to successfully move data from one platform to the other. This can be done automatically by NovaXchange, or you can specify a set of customized conversion functions to manipulate data types and specific string replacements.

There are three available plug-ins for NovaXchange 3.0. The TAR/CPIO Plug-in supports the conversion of data from most UNIX systems. The new Tape Library Plug-in extends the built-in tape support to seamlessly access any media within a tape library, allowing automation of large data conversion jobs. Also new with NovaXchange 3.0 is the availability of the Network Tape Plug-in, which enables NovaXchange to access and utilize a tape device located on a different computer over the network.

For over 10 years NovaXchange has been enabling media conversion and data migration. Today, some of the most popular uses for NovaXchange include:

-- Migrating databases from Mainframe and UNIX systems to Windows

-- Reading legacy data to a PC directly from old format tapes

-- Creating output tapes for Xerox high speed printers

NovaXchange 3.0 is priced at $799. The optional plug-ins can be purchased for $499 each. Users can purchase directly from NovaStor at www.novastor.com. Resellers can purchase NovaStor product from Ingram Micro. Existing NovaXchange customers are eligible for discounted Upgrade pricing.
