South China University of Technology Implements 40 Seats of COSMOS/Works

COSMOS/, the analysis business unit of SolidWorks Corporation, today announced that the South China University of Technology (SCUT), will incorporate 40 seats of COSMOS/Works into its 3D CAD curriculum at its main campus and at the frequently attended Industrial Training Center.

SCUT has been teaching with SolidWorks(R) software since 1999, and works in cooperation with Hong Kong-based reseller Intelligent CAD/CAM Technology, Ltd. (ICT), to provide students with 3D CAD training. Approximately 3,000 SCUT students and 1,000 students from other universities and technical schools have attended the training program. The implementation of COSMOS/Works adds an advanced feature of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to further educate students on the analysis capabilities of SolidWorks products.

There are three training rooms at SCUT's Industrial Training Center for the study of design and design analysis. One is a multimedia classroom with 90 seats; the second is a joint industrial design center with ICT; and the third is a CAD training room with 25 computers. As a result of this widespread integration of SolidWorks and COSMOS/Works in their instructional programs, several SCUT faculty plan to author three books about 3D design using SolidWorks software. One of them, entitled "SolidWorks and Engineering Analyzing," features COSMOS/Works and its applications as the main focus.
