SEATTLE & PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 29, 2002
Getting around town just got more fun with the addition of 2002 Mazda Miata convertibles to Flexcar's Seattle and Portland car-sharing programs.
Like all other vehicles in Flexcar's national fleet, the Miata is available for hourly use by Flexcar members. In Seattle, the Miata is located at Seattle Central Community College (Northwest corner of Harvard Ave East and East Pine St.) and in Portland at Northwest 11th and Johnson.
Flexcar's innovative program provides its members with access to a fleet of environmentally friendly vehicles, including gas/electric hybrids, located throughout Seattle (including Bellevue, Kirkland and Redmond) and Portland (including Vancouver, Wash.). Members reserve the vehicles for hourly use with Flexcar covering the cost of the car, gas, parking, insurance, and maintenance. With flexible pricing plans, members can enjoy the freedom of car ownership without the hassles and cost.
Following a successful European model, Flexcar launched its Seattle operations in 2000, and has since won numerous awards and commendations for its program that reduces congestion, reduces air pollution, reduces energy use, increases use of public transit and contributes to sustainable communities. Used in conjunction with public transit, car/vanpools and walking/biking, Flexcar can meet an individual's transportation needs in an economic and environmentally responsible manner, giving them the freedom of car ownership without the cost and hassles.
"Our program is helping to reduce congestion and pollution, and we take that responsibility seriously," said Neil Peterson, Flexcar's President and CEO. "But we also know that people like to have fun. What better way to do your part for the environment and have fun doing it?"

Headquartered in Seattle, Flexcar's innovative car-sharing network provides its 6,000 members in five states and the District of Columbia convenient access to a fleet of 170 new and fuel-efficient cars located in more than a dozen cities and counties. With flexible pricing plans, members can reserve and drive any of these cars whenever and wherever they need to, without filling out complicated paperwork, paying for insurance, gas or repairs. Flexcar Business Memberships enable companies to augment or replace their fleet with Flexcar vehicles. Flexcar's modern fleet includes sedans, electric vehicles, gas-electric hybrids and specialty vehicles including pickups and convertibles. Flexcar has established strategic partnerships with King County (Wash.) Metro, the Washington DC Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Parsons Transportation Group and American Honda Co.
