The New York Times Company Reports Internet Traffic for June

The New York Times Company reported that for the month of June, usage increased at the two Web sites of New York Times Digital, its digital business unit.
At NYTimes.com, time spent per visitor increased 16.0% and at Boston.com, domestic visitors increased 10.0% and national home/work reach increased 11.8%, according to Media Metrix.

The New York Times Digital consolidation, which includes both NYTimes.com and Boston.com, was ranked the 47th most-visited property on the Web in June by Media Metrix, up from 48th in May.

NYTimes.com continues to lead the news site category in time spent with 49.2 minutes per visitor per month in June, an increase of 16.0% from May's 42.4 minutes, and NYTimes.com remains the No. 1 newspaper site on the Web, according to Media Metrix. Unique domestic visitors decreased 4.2% to 6.84 million in June from 7.14 million in May, as reported by Media Metrix.
World Cup coverage drove significant national and international traffic in June, with visitors from over 225 countries and territories accessing the soccer section of the Web site. In total, articles on NYTimes.com/worldcup generated over 3.3 million page views for the month. The "Redemption for Brazil and Ronado" slideshow, a series of photographs from Brazil's 2-0 win over Germany, generated over 17,000 page views during the June 30th-July 1st time frame.

Domestic visitors increased 10.0% to 2.2 million in June from 2.0 million in May and national home/work reach increased to 1.9% in June from 1.7% in May, as reported by Media Metrix. Time spent decreased 15.8% to 26.7 minutes in June from 31.7 minutes in May (Media Metrix).
In June, Boston.com had three days that reached 3 million page views. Traffic-driving features included Paul McCartney's wedding photo gallery on June 11, World Cup coverage on June 17 and Red Sox coverage on June 19.
