LITTLETON, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 2002

Many people talk about the future of wireless and the impact of technology on business and society.

However, few have been forecasting trends as long as renowned technology visionary Paul Saffo. He is profiled in a special article in the July/August issue of Wireless Future Magazine(TM) (available now at wirelessfuturemagazine.com), an online service from Wirelesslee Inc.

Saffo is director and Roy Amara Fellow at the Institute for the Future, a nonprofit technology think tank in Menlo Park, Calif. In an article by WFM contributing writer Sally Ruth Bourrie, Saffo explains that we're in the midst of a "personal media revolution" being driven by wireless. "The last revolution we watched; in this revolution we're participating," he says in the article. The technologies that Saffo describes as being integral to the wireless future include 802.11 networks, ultrawideband, mobile gaming and entertainment services, and radio-frequency identification systems.

"As a leading forecaster, Paul Saffo has some fascinating ideas about the direction of technology for the next few years," said WFM President and Editorial Director Rikki Lee. "The wireless industry has benefited from his visions of what will come and his insights on how it will affect us. He is truly a man of the future."

With a readership of wireless technology professionals worldwide, sponsor-supported WFM is a full-length publication that can be read online, printed in a printer-friendly format or downloaded in Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF format. The July/August issue also features an interview with Telephia President and CEO Mick Mullagh on wireless network and subscriber measurements, as well as articles on the future direction of wireless technology. These include a discussion of softswitch-based IP networks, a real-life scenario of voice-enabled services, a search for the "intelligent Web," an investigation of wireless data throughput, a case study of advanced prepaid solutions, and an examination of applications for 3G and beyond. Sponsors for the July/August issue include Repeater Technologies Inc., M-Systems Inc. and Space Data Corp.
