LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 2002
Rank Interactive Gaming (IOM) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of leisure and entertainment giant The Rank Group Plc has chosen Orbis (an NDS Group plc company), the world's leading provider of interactive betting technology, to supply the software to support its entry into the online casino market with HardRockCasino.com
The Rank Group Plc owns Mecca Bingo, Grosvenor Casinos and Hard Rock Cafe and it is the Hard Rock brand that they have chosen to launch into the online casino market. HardRockCasino.com will operate under a licence issued to Rank Interactive Gaming (IOM) Ltd by the Isle of Man Government, one of the most tightly regulated and respected online gambling jurisdictions in the world.
Rank Interactive Gaming first worked with Orbis on its launch into the online gaming market with its site Rank.com which features bingo and fruit-machine style games. Orbis' interactive gambling engine OpenBet(R) proved itself to be such a robust, flexible and reliable platform that Rank Interactive Gaming has chosen OpenBet(R)as the technology backbone for its very first online casino.
HardRockCasino.com went live on 27th June 2002, and offers free membership to everyone over 18 in jurisdictions where online gambling is permissible. The games, created by WagerWorks, include favourites like Roulette, Blackjack, Multi-line Fruit Machines and Video Poker all with the unique Hard Rock stamp of individuality. The fusion of Rock n Roll with casino games promises to make HardRockCasino.com a unique experience and will appeal to both novices and experienced gamblers alike.
Damian Cope, Managing Director of Rank Interactive Gaming comments: "Partnering with Orbis guarantees that we are using the most robust and credible gambling platform available, providing us with outstanding flexibility, scalability and security. By selecting the OpenBet(R)platform for our online gaming operations we have been able to build and deliver our sites under tight deadlines and efficiently process hundreds of transactions every minute of the day whilst ensuring our players are gaming in a protected and secure environment."
Charles Malir, Marketing Director at Orbis comments: "We are delighted to have been selected by Rank Interactive Gaming yet again as they embark into new territory with the launch of HardRockCasino.com. Their first games site - Rank.com - has quickly established itself as one of the most visited games domains in the UK* and we look forward to supporting Rank Interactive Gaming in their bid to attain a leadership position in the competitive online casino market. This announcement clearly demonstrates the world class reputation and prestige of OpenBet(R)."
The deal also marks the second win for the Orbis and WagerWorks alliance. The two companies have united their software to provide an integrated sports book and casino offering. WagerWorks is the leading provider of authentic casino online gaming content. Its games are taken directly from the gaming floors of the Las Vegas casinos, and adapted for the Internet. In addition, the company retains the exclusive rights to many of the world's most famous gaming brands, providing customers with tried and tested games, that are guaranteed to thrill and entertain.
The Orbis and WagerWorks alliance, announced last year, unites the most credible offerings yet seen in the online gaming market. Importantly, both companies understand the demands of operating within a highly regulated environment, and have committed to only working with organisations operating in recognised and fully regulated jurisdictions.
