New CD-RW Drive Breaks the 12x CD-RW Performance Barrier

Allowing CD-RW to Replace the Floppy in Performance

Pacific Digital Corporation, the retail market leader in CD-RW drive solutions, today announces the Mach40-16, a new internal IDE CD-RW drive that writes CD-R at 40x, supports an industry-leading 16x CD-RW write speed and performs like a speedy 48x CD-ROM. This fast new CD-RW drive breaks the 12x barrier on CD-RW and further establishes CD-RW media as the replacement floppy.

Complete CD-RW recording Solution includes Nero Burning ROM 5.5 and additional Nero Applications

The Mach40-16 comes complete with the latest version of Nero Burning ROM 5.5 from Ahead Software, which simplifies the creation of audio, video and photo CDs.

Already a feature-rich application, Nero 5.5 adds several significant enhancements including a complete and non-destructive audio editor, the ability to create compatible MPEG data for Video CD recording, a full MPEG 1 video encoder and a VCD/SVCD menu creator.

To take advantage of the latest generation of higher speed drives, the application Nero CD Speed 99 has been added to greatly improve recording routines, CD Text routines, and gives users the added option to simulate the creation of the DAE Quality Test disc. Combined with Nero's capacity to write to as many as 32 CD-R/RW drives simultaneously using an enhanced true multi-tasking CD-Recording engine, Nero 5.5 users are virtually assured of never being constrained by the demands of 16X or greater recording. To complete the package, Nero 5.5 also includes a full-featured Cover Designer application and a Wave Editor, providing users with an unprecedented level of creative control.

Aggressively priced CD-RW drive is the ideal floppy replacement

While providing these new breakthroughs in optical writing performance, Pacific Digital has also delivered in affordability by pricing the Mach40-16 with a suggested retail price of $79.99.
