IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 2002
Expanding its portfolio of solutions for corporate customers, Toshiba's Computer Systems Group (CSG) today announced that effective July 1, 2002, the Multimedia Group, formerly of Toshiba America Consumer Products Inc., and the Imaging Systems Division Digital Projector Group will merge to form one business unit under Toshiba CSG.
The new Presentation Projector Group will have headquarters in Irvine and will be responsible for sales to the professional audio/video channel, PC distributors and corporate customers.
By bringing together the resources of these teams, the merger is designed to build an industry-leading organization that will leverage the strength and experience of each group. Another benefit is the consolidation and focus of engineering resources for the development of leading networking and wireless technology for future projector offerings.
"With Toshiba CSG's strategic focus on providing wireless and innovative solutions for mobile executives, projectors are an excellent fit for our organization," said Rod Keller, executive vice president, Toshiba CSG.
"Toshiba recognizes that corporate customers need a broad range of products to enhance mobility and productivity, as well as unmatched service and support. This merger will bring world-class presentation expertise to Toshiba CSG, helping us to strengthen our market leadership position."
Toshiba has been an innovator and leader in projector technology since April 1996 when the company introduced the world's first projector for business presentations with a built-in document camera visualizer.
Today, Toshiba is the only manufacturer to offer a full-function, integrated document camera with advanced features such as high resolution 1.4 megapixel CCD, an overlay function for annotation, as well as freeze frame and digital zoom capabilities.
A leader in digital display technology, Toshiba offers the newest T-Series multimedia LCD projectors -- six high-performance, lightweight portable models that offer high-resolution 1,024 x 768 image quality, high brightness and a host of advanced performance and convenience features.
The lineup includes the new TLP-T701, TLP-T700, TLP-T501, TLP-T500 -- the first multimedia projectors to include universal wireless technology to achieve a breakthrough in multimedia projector flexibility -- along with models TLP-T401 and TLP-T400.
Customers from the former Multimedia Group and Imaging Systems Division Digital Projector Group may contact Sam Malik, director of sales and marketing for the Presentation Projector Group, Toshiba CSG at 949/583-3000 beginning July 1, 2002.
