Healthcare Providers

The New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) announced today that it has selected Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) as a strategic partner to secure critical information systems and achieve HIPAA compliance for its member organizations.

NJHA and CA are cosponsoring a variety of programs to bring the benefits of CA's acclaimed eTrust line of security solutions to NJHA's 104 members statewide. These joint programs include seminars, technology days, roundtables and other executive events.

By implementing CA's eTrust solutions, NJHA members will be able to resolve their pressing security challenges and achieve HIPAA compliance with greater speed, effectiveness and cost-efficiency.

"The breadth and depth of CA's eTrust security portfolio is expansive and provides value to our security-conscious membership," said Guy Evans, vice president of business development, NJHA. "Through this strategic partnership with CA, NJHA will be able to better assist healthcare organizations throughout the state to meet both their regulatory obligations and their own business security objectives."

CA's eTrust solutions provide a uniquely effective and comprehensive range of critical data protection capabilities, including integrated security management, identity management and defense against viruses and other attacks. These capabilities are essential for information-intensive enterprises and are particularly valuable to healthcare providers who are now under strong regulatory pressure to safeguard their patients' privacy.

In addition to its eTrust security solutions, CA is making available a specially designed Security Integrity Solutions (SIS) HIPAA Assessment offering. This unique market offering includes solutions from CA's leading eTrust and Unicenter brands.

"The healthcare industry is facing a variety of unique challenges as it faces both HIPAA deadlines and the increased complexity of its diverse clinical and business systems," said Simon Perry, vice president, eTrust solutions, CA. "By working closely with NJHA, CA will be able to better assist the state's healthcare providers in their efforts to ensure the continuity of their own operations, safeguard the privacy of their clients and meet the government's stringent regulatory requirements."
