LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 2002

Top White House Aide Keynotes Event Hosted by Vanguard

Integrity Professionals Inc. and ISSA

The world's foremost IT security experts from public and private sectors will meet June 22-28, 2002, in Anaheim, Calif. at Vanguard Integrity Professionals 16th Annual Enterprise Security Expo(TM) 2002.

This year's Expo will feature Howard A. Schmidt, vice chairman of the White House Critical Information Protection Board (CIPB) as a keynote speaker.

The Expo is combined with the 2002 Information Systems Security Association (ISSA(TM)) Conference to facilitate the international sharing of information and ideas by information security professionals. The Expo includes seminars, workshops and full-day training sessions on every aspect of information security and technology.

"Today's environment has made it painstakingly clear that public and private IT security professionals can no longer concentrate just on network, server or PC security," said Ronn Bailey, CEO/CTO of Vanguard Integrity Professionals -- Nevada. "The theme of this year's Expo is that a more comprehensive approach must be taken, which includes paying greater attention to the security of the most vital systems -- mainframes."

Seventy percent of the world's business and public agency data resides on IBM mainframes, not counting mainframes made by other manufacturers.

"Protection of these systems has been grossly overlooked in recent years, as the majority of U.S. efforts to secure our information infrastructure has been focused on protecting networks and the Internet," added Bailey. "The majority of intrusions, however, ensue from inside users with direct access to mainframes."

In fact, disgruntled employees and other insiders with legitimate access to information accounted for more than 80% of cyber attacks against companies last year, according to a survey by the FBI and the San Francisco-based Computer Security Institute.

This year's keynote speaker, Schmidt, is a regular international speaker on computer forensics and information assurance. He is expected to speak to this elite industry group about the White House's latest actions to protect critical information. Additional speakers include:

-- Eugene Schultz, University of California at Berkeley professor and Principal
Engineer at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory;

-- Zot O'Connor, founder of Zot Consulting Inc. and White Knight Hackers;

-- Michael Rasmussen, a Senior Industry Analyst for the information security
industry at Giga Information Group, who served on this year's conference
planning committee, is president of the Milwaukee ISSA Chapter, and is the
former Director of Membership for the ISSA International Board of Directors;
and

-- Ed Skoudis, Vice President of Ethical Hacking for Predictive Systems and
author of the textbook "Counter Hack: A Step-by-Step Guide to Computer Attacks
and Effective Defenses."

"Expo 2002" is geared exclusively to information technology professionals who are responsible for improving the security of their enterprise computing environments. Participants may earn up to 44 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits during the conference to be applied to their Certified Information Systems Security Professionals (CISSP(TM)) certification from International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium Inc. (ISC)2(TM).
