CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 2002
Convergys Corporation (NYSE:CVG), the global leader in integrated billing, employee care, and customer care services, announced today the availability of Convergys Activation Manager Release 3.0. The latest release features enhanced graphical user interfaces (GUI) that help operators more easily, quickly, and cost-effectively configure their networks and workflow processes to provision convergent services.
Convergys' Activation Manager is a highly flexible and scalable application module that supports convergent wireless voice and data, IP, and cable and broadband services. Built on Convergys' Next Generation Framework, it is uniquely able to operate as a stand-alone product or integrate seamlessly with existing billing and customer care systems.
"Successfully rolling out convergent services on a large scale requires operators to streamline their provisioning and workflow processes for maximum time- and cost-efficiency," said Randy Mysliviec, Convergys' Senior Vice President, Marketing. "Convergys Activation Manager provides operators with unprecedented control over their network elements interfaces and workflow processing, whether the module is used to help complete routine service activation, correct provisioning errors with minimal manual intervention, or introduce new offerings."
Key new functionality added to the module's already robust Web-based GUIs includes:
-- Enhanced business rules configuration - Allows operators to define business order validation rules and error codes and control the sequence of transactions sent to the network elements (NE) or element management systems (EMS), simplifying business rules configuration and accelerating workflow processing. Time-to-market for new service delivery and operational costs are reduced. -- Enhanced event notification (SNMP trap) configuration - Allows operators to simplify and accelerate configuration of SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) traps. This feature allows operators to choose points in the system where messages will be "trapped" or forwarded to external alarm management systems. Activation Manager's trap configuration simplifies the provisioning operator's job, reduces time spent manually reconciling provisioning errors, and provides for more efficient and effective delivery of convergent services. -- Enhanced configuration for command dialog interface - Allows operators to view and monitor communication between Convergys Activation Manager and NE using the web-based GUI. This capability simplifies and accelerates communication with NEs and facilitates customization of the command line interface (CLI), helping with automation and improving workflow capabilities. Operational costs are reduced, yet service delivery timeframes are accelerated.
The Convergys Activation Manager supports convergent provisioning capabilities, integrated voice and data environments, and easy integration with billing systems and networks through established APIs and toolkits. This Convergys module provides subscriber service activation and profile management on any network element, automates flow-through provisioning for converged services, and isolates billing systems from the complexity and details of the network. It also supports administration of service provisioning through flexible service definition, network element configuration tools, rules-based transaction generation, automated load balancing across multiple devices and connections, and order prioritization and service activation workflow.
Convergys' product line of highly scalable end-to-end billing products, pre-integrated application suites, and application modules enables communication providers to create fully integrated billing and customer care environments that are adaptable, reliable, and cost-effective. Convergys products are based on its proven and innovative Next Generation Framework, a component-based architecture that provides unsurpassed flexibility, investment protection, and support for convergent communication services.
