DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 2002
J.D. Edwards (Nasdaq:JDEC) today announced plans to offer J.D. Edwards CRM applications built on a Linux-based infrastructure from IBM, beginning with the financial services industry.
J.D. Edwards CRM is well suited for large- and mid-sized enterprises, and will represent the first offering from J.D. Edwards to support Linux, the open source operating system. The Intel-based solution includes IBM DB2 database and WebSphere Application Server software for Linux running on the IBM eServer xSeries.
J.D. Edwards' collaborative CRM offering is a leading application that helps businesses in key industries, such as financial services, harness key information surrounding their customers to strengthen and grow relationships. Key advantages to J.D. Edwards CRM are the ability to provide a single view of a client's activity across the company - which may include multiple accounts and transactions that take place on several systems - and its data inheritance capability that lets customers access their most important client data without having to replicate or copy data into another data model.
"Announcing the company's first Linux-based offering is very appropriate at FOCUS 2002, the J.D. Edwards Users Group Conference," said Dave Siebert, group vice president, J.D. Edwards. "Over the last several months, more and more customers have expressed interest in Linux-based solutions. Partnering with IBM on this initiative makes sense, because it is clearly viewed as a leader in this emerging arena. Making J.D. Edwards CRM, available on an open, standards based Linux platform, including IBM software, helps us make customers stronger."
"The combination of J.D. Edwards CRM offering and the reliability and cost-effectiveness of the Linux operating system, is ideally suited for the needs of the financial services industry," said Al Sabo, vice president, financial services, IBM.
"We are pleased to have J.D. Edwards join our rapidly growing list of application providers for Linux," said Scott Handy, director, software solutions, IBM. "This new J.D. Edwards offering will be an IBM preferred CRM application for Linux, and includes leading DB2 and WebSphere software from IBM, giving customers the robustness, flexibility and lower total cost of ownership advantages of an open environment."
IBM Global Services and J.D. Edwards Consulting Services will offer installation and customization support for the application in addition to full service and support options for the entire solution including the J.D. Edwards CRM application, IBM software and hardware and the Linux operating system.
