BLUE BELL, Pa. & SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 17, 2002

Combining wireless capabilities with secure mobile access to business-critical data, Fiberlink and Boingo Wireless announced plans to give road warriors the ability to securely connect to corporate networks using hot spots in airports, hotels, coffee shops and other public spaces. Fiberlink, a leading provider of remote access and security solutions, and Boingo Wireless, a high-speed wireless Internet service provider, together will now extend policy-driven remote access with the added convenience of high-speed wireless connectivity to Fiberlink customers.

Fiberlink is the first partner to deliver Boingo's roaming wireless access to the enterprise in conjunction with a secure remote access solution. In partnering with Boingo, Fiberlink will now couple Wi-Fi (802.11b) technology with its other industry-leading capabilities: integrated VPN, firewall and anti-virus, policy management with enforcement and global network access. Fiberlink Global Remote, Fiberlink's flagship product, integrates security, access and management to give remote workers and IT departments a comprehensive remote access solution.

The partnership will allow mobile professionals to access their corporate resources through any one of Boingo's wireless hot spots -- locations that offer high-speed wireless access to the Internet. With Boingo's service, users are spared the hassle of actively searching for an available hot spot. If a hot spot exists and a signal is present, the customer receives immediate notification and is given the option to connect.

Adhering to its practice of partnering with best-of-breed providers, Fiberlink acknowledged that Boingo would deliver the greatest coverage and support to Fiberlink's Fortune 1000 customers.

"Customers are increasingly interested in wireless data access. But until now the lack of security, manageability and coverage limited the kind of roaming access corporations could safely grant their mobile employees," said Skip Taylor, vice president of product marketing at Fiberlink. "With this partnership, customers will reap the benefits of access through Boingo's roaming wireless network with the added security of Fiberlink's integrated remote access service."

"Mobile professionals need to be productive when traveling, and combining high-speed connectivity with secure access makes every airport and hotel feel like you never left your office," said Floyd Hubbell, vice president of sales for Boingo Wireless. "This relationship with Fiberlink is a tremendous opportunity to extend our wireless network to the enterprise, offering users secure access to business information while increasing worker productivity at the same time."

Pricing and Availability

Fiberlink Global Remote for wireless LAN hot spots is scheduled for general release in the third quarter of 2002. This product is an optional component of Fiberlink Global Remote that enterprises can roll out to select workers or to an entire mobile workforce. Users must be running Microsoft Windows 98 or higher. Users will be able to choose one of three distinct pricing plans: unlimited access, a per-connection fee or a combination plan.

Fiberlink has partnered with Boingo to provide best-of-breed wireless hot spot access (using Wi-Fi) with authentication and monitoring services. Fiberlink will offer access to the Boingo Wireless network as a Fiberlink service, and Boingo will have the opportunity to offer Fiberlink access and other services to its customers through a Fiberlink representative.
