MISSION VIEJO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 18, 2002
Foundstone Inc., the premier provider of security assessments and vulnerability protection, and the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), a global organization of information security professionals and practitioners, today announced that Foundstone is ISSA's Outstanding Organization of the Year for 2002. ISSA presents the award to Foundstone at the 2002 ISSA Conference and Vanguard Enterprise Security Expo held June 23-28 in Anaheim, Calif.
Foundstone is only the second recipient of the Outstanding Organization of the Year award, an annual distinction reserved for companies and groups that make an extraordinary contribution to ISSA and the entire information security profession.
"As the nominating and selection process advanced, Foundstone emerged as the clear choice for our Outstanding Organization of the Year award," said Roger Younglove, press relations director for ISSA and chairman of the awards screening committee.
"Foundstone's industry-wide advocacy to improve enterprise security impressed committee members, as did its sterling reputation among its clients. Foundstone consultants are frequent speakers at industry events, and they contribute articles, research, security alerts and other information that expand the overall body of security knowledge."
Nomination for the Outstanding Organization of the Year award began in June 2001. ISSA board members and presidents of local ISSA chapters submitted supporting documentation for four companies to the screening committee. The screening committee examined each company's credentials and submitted two finalists to the national awards committee, where Foundstone was a unanimous selection.
"Our company has become a leader in the enterprise security market, and we recognize our responsibility to the industry at large -- be it notifying a vendor about a vulnerability, participating in industry events, or partnering with leading technology companies," said George Kurtz, CEO of Foundstone. "Sharing information and knowledge is good for the industry and good for our business. We do this through the many books published by authors within Foundstone, the vulnerability notification process we use to alert vendors of security holes in their products, our popular education courses and the many conferences at which our experts speak."
