DULLES, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 20, 2002

Vastera, Inc. (Nasdaq:VAST), the leading provider of solutions for Global Trade Management (GTM), today announced that Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS), a leading provider of office electronic products, has selected Vastera's TradeSphere Exporter solution to accelerate product shipments to customers around the world.

"Vastera's TradeSphere solution will allow our company to have more visibility and control over our products that are being shipped into and out of the U.S.," said Dan Langham, Senior Vice-President & Chief Information Officer at TABS. "Vastera's software will help us improve our business and trade processes, as well as keep us in compliance with the ever changing rules and regulations of countries around the globe. We are looking forward to driving faster cycle times and better service for our international customers by leveraging Vastera."

Headquartered in Irvine, California, Toshiba America Business Solutions, an independent operating company of Toshiba Inc., is one of the world's leading providers of digital multi function copiers, printers and fax machines.

It has an extensive client base around the world, to whom it ships both finished goods as well as replacement parts and peripherals. TABS' ability to perform the Global Trade Management functions required to get its products to customers around the world is critical to shorter cycle times and improved customer service.

TABS has selected Vastera's TradeSphere software solution to perform the export functions required to move goods across international borders more quickly. Specific TradeSphere functionality being deployed by TABS will include, international shipment document generation, regulatory compliance screening, and export license determination and management.

By performing these functions more quickly and accurately, TABS expects to have fewer shipment delays at the point of departure, fewer Customs delays at the point of entry, and lower operational costs associated with its international business operations.

Vastera will leverage its Collaborative Platform, released in January 2002, to quickly integrate TradeSphere to Oracle 11i. Via its publish and subscribe architecture, the Collaborative Platform receives orders from Oracle, which flow into TradeSphere immediately for compliance checking.

At shipment time, international shipping documents are automatically generated by TradeSphere, and important global trade information is sent back to Oracle for storage.

"We are proud to add a company of Toshiba's stature to our list of clients, " said Michael Jepsen, Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Vastera. "The recognition by truly global companies like Toshiba that Vastera's solutions can drive down costs and improve efficiencies is a strong testament to the value of the solutions we build. We are pleased that they view Vastera as a mission critical initiative and we're eager to get them up and running quickly."
