REMINDER...for Monday (June 24)

--(BUSINESS WIRE)

What: If one of our nation's energy challenges is lack of power,
what if we doubled the efficiency of as many power plants as
possible and got twice the energy for every gallon of oil or
ton of coal they burn? Combined heat and power can help us do
just that - and even help the environment in the process since
less heat and fewer emissions would be rejected into the
        atmosphere.

Toward that end, the EPA is encouraging the use of combined
heat and power through its new Combined Heat and Power
Partnership. EPA official Rob Brenner will be in Baltimore to
speak about the program to members of the International
District Energy Association (IDEA) gathered for their annual
conference. Brenner will also induct IDEA members - and IDEA -
as new partners in the program: Affiliated Engineers Inc.,
Alstom Power Inc., Kent State University, KeySpan Business
Solutions, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Perma-Pipe
Inc., University of Colorado at Boulder, and University of
        Texas at Austin.

Who: Robert D. Brenner; Director of Office of Policy Analysis and
Review, Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for Air and
        Radiation; U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

When: Monday, June 24, 2002, 12 noon luncheon; remarks scheduled
        to begin 12:30 p.m. EDT

      Where: Liberty Ballroom (lobby level)
           Wyndham Baltimore Inner Harbor
           101 West Fayette Street
           Baltimore, MD 21201
           Phone: 410-752-1100

Media Access: Full media access. Photographers and TV crews
welcome. No check-in or registration necessary.

Contact: Rob Thornton, President, IDEA - Cell: (508) 254-8082,
             www.districtenergy.org

Christian Fellner, Program Director, EPA - (202) 564-2664

             Monica Westerlund, IDEA Representative -
             Cell: (612) 590-2324

Rob Brenner available for interviews immediately
             following presentation. Please approach podium.

Additional Notes: EPA will receive IDEA's Public Sector Leadership
Award, given annually to the public entity or individual
deemed by the association to have demonstrated public
leadership in the energy field. IDEA Chairman Ray DuBose,
University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, will present the
award. UNC is a founding partner in the EPA's CHP Partnership.

EPA will have a booth at the trade show located in the
