IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 24, 2002
Kofax today announced the availability of Version 2.1 of its award-winning Software VirtualReScan (SVRS) automated document image-perfecting solution.
The new version is now compatible with more than 40 certified workgroup and departmental scanners and offers support for additional TWAIN- and ISIS-based software applications. In addition, SVRS 2.1 supports the Windows XP Professional operating system.
SVRS greatly improves readability of scanned documents by automatically straightening, cropping and optimizing exposure in real time. It also achieves high levels of accuracy in data captured from scanned documents by greatly reducing the need for manual corrections of intelligent character recognition (ICR) and optical character recognition (OCR) results. With VRS, users can load any combination of document types and sizes into a scanner and simply press the scan button.
"Kofax continues to expand its product capabilities to offer our customers the latest in technology advancements," said JD Moons, director of marketing for Kofax. "SVRS' proven success enables customers processing multi-part forms, such as shipping airbills, to effectively manage documents that are usually difficult to scan. In addition, added support of Windows XP Professional enables SVRS users to take advantage of innovative features offered by Microsoft's most current operating platform, while using the industry's most powerful image-perfecting application."
In May, SVRS was awarded a U.S. patent reaffirming Kofax partner and customer feedback that SVRS sets the standard for document image processing. SVRS was named "Product of the Year 2001" by Transform magazine and won the magazine's "Best of Show" award at the 2001 AIIM industry trade show.
Doculabs Inc. (www.doculabs.com), an independent research and consulting firm, found that SVRS reduces document preparation time, increases OCR accuracy by about 35 percent and eliminates expensive rescanning. The Doculabs assessment of SVRS can be downloaded at www.kofax.com/learning/whitepapers.
> SVRS 2.1 EnhancementsThe number of SVRS-certified scanners has grown to more than 40 with the addition of 11 new scanners from Canon, Fujitsu, Visioneer, Hewlett-Packard and Bell & Howell. Other SVRS-certified scanners include personal and professional scanners from Epson, Kodak, Panasonic and Ricoh. A high-speed, hardware-assisted version remains available for production-class document scanners from Bell & Howell, Fujitsu and Ricoh.
SVRS 2.1 now supports Cardiff TELEform versions 7.0 and 8.0, DocuXplorer Personal and Professional versions, Easyware from Easy Software, IMR Alchemy and Meta Viewer Enterprise from Metafile Information Systems. Other companies offering SVRS-compatible applications include Adobe, Captiva, Eastman Software, FileNET, Microsystems Technology and ReadSoft.
