Issuance of WGA SecurePass

INTELLI-CHECK, INC. (AMEX:IDN), a developer of advanced document verification systems, today announced that the Company's ID-CHECK(R) unit was deployed as an integral component of a comprehensive security system at the annual conference of the Western Governors' Association (WGA), which took place in Phoenix, Ariz., from June 23 to today.

"The WGA had asked several leading technology companies to deploy new identification security technologies at the meeting to provide enhanced security and to demonstrate to attendees how these technologies work. Intelli-Check is pleased that we were one of those chosen to show how our patented technology can meet homeland security challenges," stated Frank Mandelbaum, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Intelli-Check. "Our ID-CHECK unit was utilized as a gateway to all other security procedures. Before receiving their WGA SecurePass, containing a smart chip and a biometric, attendees were required to have their driver licenses validated by the ID-CHECK unit," Mr. Mandelbaum said.

Usually the focus of secure identification is on the document. Even combining biometrics with the identification document only ensures that the person holding the document is the person to whom it was issued. However, most importantly, it does not address the issue of who that person is. The ID-CHECK unit together with a background investigation of a person applying for a specific identification document meets this need.

"The WGA's objective was not just to demonstrate the use of Intelli-Check's and related technologies, such as smart cards and biometrics, but to use them in a `real world' setting that provided secure access to meetings and events. Attendees gained an appreciation of how these technologies could be applied in their home states and to the protection of critical infrastructure assets, thus confirming our belief that our technology has an important role to play in homeland security," added Mr. Mandelbaum.

The conference was attended by member governors of the WGA, their staffs and families, private sector participants, corporate sponsors, non-member governors, conference staff and security personnel provided by each governor and by the State of Arizona.
