Borland Software Corporation (Nasdaq:BORL) today announced enhanced support for BEA WebLogic Server(TM) in Borland(R) JBuilder(TM) 7 and Borland(R) Optimizeit Suite(TM) 4.2. The new versions of Borland JBuilder and Optimizeit Suite that shipped earlier this month added support for BEA WebLogic Server 7.0 and enhanced support for earlier versions of BEA Systems' (Nasdaq:BEAS) BEA WebLogic application servers. Continuing Borland's commitment to help customers reduce development costs and speed time to market, Borland JBuilder and Optimizeit Suite provide tighter integration with BEA WebLogic Server and deploy to more J2EE(TM) servers than any other Java development environment.
"Recent research by IDC shows for the first time in a broad-based survey that Java is the most widely used development language," says Dirk Coburn, director of Java and XML for Ebusiness at IDC. "This same research shows that adoption of Java is driven not just by web pages, but significantly by multi-tier enterprise applications deployed on J2EE platforms."
"We view Borland as a strong, strategic partner and we see Borland's development environment for Java(TM) as a valuable complement to our BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform," said Scott Edgington, vice president and general manager, global software alliances, BEA Systems. "Borland and BEA continue to work closely together to offer leading products for the Java market. With JBuilder 7 and Borland Optimizeit Suite, development teams deploying on BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform are able to develop and optimize their code quickly and easily."
"We are relentless in our commitment to provide the most productive solutions for rapid development of Java applications and best in breed solutions for customers to deploy their applications," said Tony de la Lama, vice president and general manager of Java solutions at Borland. "Development teams using Borland and BEA benefit from a seamless, tightly integrated development and deployment environment for high-performance J2EE applications."
JBuilder 7 simplifies the development and deployment of Enterprise JavaBeans(TM) (EJB(TM)) applications with a two-way visual EJB designer and tight integration with BEA WebLogic Server based on established Java standards. The EJB designer speeds the development of large-scale EJB components. The integration between JBuilder and WebLogic Server reduces complexity and streamlines the deployment of applications with the ability to deploy, undeploy, and redeploy EJBs without shutting down or restarting the WebLogic Server. JBuilder 7 also allows the visual editing of WebLogic deployment descriptors. Additional timesaving features of JBuilder 7 Enterprise include the ability to build archive files for WebLogic with the JBuilder Archive Builder, and remote debugging of EJB in WebLogic.
Borland Optimizeit(TM) Suite is essential for managing performance throughout the development process and for producing fast, reliable applications. Because J2EE performance and reliability are crucial to the success of many businesses, Optimizeit Suite 4.2 is specifically designed to manage performance for J2EE platform projects being deployed to BEA WebLogic Server. The Optimizeit Suite integrates with WebLogic to allow profiling scalability. With Optimizeit Suite applications running on remote WebLogic servers can be easily profiled directly from a development station, without the need for file system sharing changes. Combining ease-of-use, scalability, and powerful functionality, the Optimizeit Suite is a strong tooling complement to the high-performance WebLogic Server.
