EVERETT, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 3, 2002
Intermec Technologies Corp. has named Ascentry Technologies Inc. of Federal Way, Wash., to its Premier Solutions Partner program.
Ascentry software enables integration of wireless technology into an existing physical security infrastructure, creating a mobile network. This network allows security personnel to access and control sources such as closed circuit TV cameras, audio, alarms and access control, over wireless mobile devices.
Ascentry will deploy Intermec wireless local area networking hardware to deliver real-time data to security personnel and display it on Intermec rugged mobile computers. This technology allows security teams to roam throughout a facility and enables them to respond more quickly to emergency situations. Companies can benefit from the enhanced security provided by a mobile solution while still protecting their original investment in security infrastructure.
"Ascentry is addressing key problems in the security industry," said Rod Crane, Intermec vice president of channel partner sales. "Together, Intermec and Ascentry can free security personnel from the desk and make them truly mobile. This mobility reduces manpower requirements and costs by allowing fewer personnel to cover an area."
"Intermec's rugged and reliable devices are tailor-made for the kind of security applications our technology enables," said Federico Pacquing, president and chief executive officer of Ascentry. "These robust devices, in combination with the increased efficiency, effectiveness and safety enabled by a mobile security network, mean that our mutual customers will enjoy a very strong and quick ROI."
