Agreement Further Solidifies Emulex's Long-Standing Relationship
With Fujitsu Siemens
Emulex Corp. (Nasdaq:EMLX), the world's leading supplier of storage networking host bus adapters (HBAs), today announced that its LightPulse 2Gb/s LP9002L Fibre Channel HBA has been selected by Fujitsu Siemens Computers for integration into its PRIMERGY and PRIMEPOWER server series.
Fujitsu's decision to utilize Emulex HBAs was based on the LP9002L's unique feature set, including driver compatibility across its entire product line and a firmware-based architecture, which help to lower the customer's total cost of ownership and reduce management complexity.
"Emulex consistently provides reliable and scalable connectivity solutions that we require to deliver best-in-class server and storage solutions to our customers," said Dieter Herzog, vice president of PRIMERGY Servers Product Division for Fujitsu Siemens. "Utilizing Emulex HBAs also ensures that the PRIMERGY and PRIMEPOWER server product lines deliver the speed and performance that is critical to our customers."
The Emulex LP9002L Fibre Channel PCI HBA supports 2Gb/s Fibre Channel data rates and also features automatic speed negotiation capability which allows complete backward compatibility with existing 1Gb/s Fibre Channel SANs, while allowing seamless upgrades as the industry moves beyond 2Gb/s SANs.
"Emulex is dedicated to providing robust solutions for the mid-range and enterprise markets, and this latest agreement with Fujitsu Siemens Computers further demonstrates our commitment to that goal," said Kirk Roller, Emulex chief operating officer.
"The PRIMERGY and PRIMEPOWER server and storage series combined with Emulex HBAs offers customers a high performance solution and seamless migration path to newer and faster technologies, which protects our customers' technology investments."
The Fujitsu Siemens PRIMEPOWER and PRIMERGY server and storage series offer business critical solutions for a wide range of applications and meet the needs of integrated multi-server environments.
Data centers, server consolidation and large enterprise storage systems are all provided for, with flexible storage solutions and high availability server clusters. PRIMEPOWER benchmarks prove it is also an ideal platform for ERP, CRM, data warehousing and supply chain applications.
The Emulex Family of Host Bus Adapters
The Emulex family of HBAs offers high performance, standards-based connectivity solutions for both Fibre Channel and Internet protocol (IP) storage networking environments. Emulex host bus adapters provide a unique combination of features required for mission-critical enterprise environments that deliver reliability, high bandwidth, server CPU offload, low latency and scalable connectivity.
Emulex HBAs also offer a single operating system driver and a firmware-based architecture, which help to lower the customer's total cost of ownership and reduce management complexity, while enabling a seamless migration path to next generation technologies.
