Web-Based Portal Design Increases Usability and Simplifies Access
to Integrated Customer Relationship Management Processes
SAP AG (NYSE:SAP) today announced the expansion of mySAP(TM) Customer Relationship Management (mySAP CRM), adding "people centric" functionality designed to help corporations empower employees, customers, and partners in driving the creation and optimization of customer value. Building on new Web-based portal technology infrastructure and capabilities from mySAP(TM) Technology, mySAP CRM will provide individual users with a customized, highly intuitive, role-based environment that delivers access to relevant information for customer-centric business processes from multiple data sources both internal and external to the enterprise. (See related release, "SAP Ships Open Web Services Platform.") Such role-based data and business processes will be available online and offline, as well as through mobile and handheld devices. The announcement was made at SAPPHIRE(R) '02, SAP's international e-business conference being held in Orlando, Fla., June 5-7.
"More and more companies realize that real CRM today involves more than just front-office customer interaction -- it embraces the whole enterprise, resulting in additional user groups that need to access customer-centric data," said Peter Zencke, executive board member of SAP AG. "The new portal capabilities of mySAP CRM provide an intuitive interface to all relevant customer-related data. The role-based and context-related access, as well as additional personalization functions, improve the efficiency of individuals, and, in turn, the customer relationship along the whole enterprise value chain."
In order to meet the needs of an extended user community that ranges from power users, such as call center agents, to occasional users, such as sales managers, people-centric CRM provides intuitive and easy access to multiple sources of data and business processes across application boundaries; relevant and personalized data to be presented and delivered according to the role of the user; and the ability of the portal environment to adapt to different user types and tasks through intuitive and efficient interfaces.
As a result, all users can receive fast access to information that is relevant to their roles in an organization and can easily initiate business processes across traditional corporate boundaries, reducing cycle times and eliminating redundancies while increasing cost savings.
The browser-based functionality of the portal paves the way for faster integration of applications while reducing the overall cost of ownership. Additional user benefits include easy access to aggregated data, which increases employee efficiency, ensures greater accuracy of order placements, and improves response times in solving customer issues. Users can provide customer service from virtually any Internet-enabled location.
"Having the ability to integrate our online and mobile environments onto a single platform through mySAP CRM will enable our users to operate more efficiently," said Gary Matula, vice president of Information Systems at Molex, a leading supplier of interconnection products and systems to the global electronics industry, who is deploying mySAP CRM on a global basis. "Currently, we operate in two separate environments. By integrating our 700-plus online users with our 300-plus mobile users onto a single platform, we expect to be able to better manage the entire system, saving on the total cost of ownership."
By incorporating people-centric functionality into mySAP CRM, SAP is taking CRM to the next level of customer-centric business enablement, building on its framework of "connected CRM," which links companies to customers, customers to processes, and people to the information they need. The new portal capabilities will enable individuals to access, customize, and maintain control of data relevant to the user and will be an integral part of the next version of mySAP CRM, planned for release in the fall of this year.
