DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2002
J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC) today announced its support for Sun Microsystems' latest update to its UNIX(R) operating system, Solaris(TM) 9 Operating Environment for J.D. Edwards OneWorld(R) Xe software.
As a leading provider of supply chain management, CRM and enterprise software, J.D. Edwards makes customers stronger with a scalable, secure and reliable open environment with lower total cost of ownership. J.D. Edwards OneWorld Xe (at the SP19.1 and greater release level) deployed on Sun Solaris 9 OE will provide users with a highly scalable, available, manageable and secure service delivery platform for the networked world, with lower total cost of ownership.
"J.D. Edwards customers utilize our software every day to solve their most important business challenges; and Sun will be a major UNIX platform for J.D. Edwards OneWorld Xe deployments." said Lenley Hensarling, vice president of product management, J.D. Edwards. "Solaris 9 enhances the performance, scalability, lower total cost of ownership and rapid time-to-value of J.D. Edwards software for our mutual customers."
Solaris 9 enables software developers to easily integrate through its open, extensible architecture. This ensures better scalability, higher availability and security, and integrated management functionality in J.D. Edwards OneWorld Xe, without recompiling, recoding or rearchitecting.
As long-standing technology alliance partners, J.D. Edwards and Sun deliver integrated supply chain management and collaborative enterprise software and solutions to large- and mid-size customers worldwide. Collaborative technologies make customers stronger and deliver competitive advantage, improved profit and reduced costs. J.D. Edwards software gives an enterprise real-time visibility into its supply chain -- into its business as well as its customers' and suppliers' businesses -- helping them react immediately to market changes and capitalize on business opportunities.
"Leveraging long-standing technology collaboration and joint engineering efforts, Sun and J.D. Edwards continue to provide enterprises with complete solutions that allow them to focus on their core business, increasing productivity, revenue and profit," said Doug Kaewert, vice president of the Sun Developer Network group at Sun Microsystems, Inc. "Sun is pleased that J.D. Edwards plans to take advantage of new features in Solaris 9 OE that make applications easier to deploy and manage."
