FOSTER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 2002
Inktomi Corp. (NASDAQ:INKT), developer of scalable network infrastructure software today announced that Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT) has selected the Inktomi(R) Enterprise Search Security Module for secure information retrieval within its enterprise network. Expanding upon the deployment of Inktomi Enterprise Search across Motorola's corporate Web site, the Inktomi Enterprise Search Security Module will allow Motorola to easily integrate search capabilities with its internal security applications to provide users with a unified and personalized view of all of the resources they are authorized to access.
"Motorola recognizes the importance of effective information retrieval in improving productivity and business efficiency. However, as we enable greater access to corporate content, security is a top concern," said Scott Slattery, manager of Global Internet Platforms at Motorola. "The Security Module offered by Inktomi will allow us to provide our employees, partners and suppliers around the world with a comprehensive, personalized view of crucial company information without compromising data integrity."
As the volume of corporate information continues to grow exponentially and businesses become more distributed, the ability to securely and centrally manage access to content is a core enterprise requirement. System administrators must be able to control user access as they make protected resources more readily available to employees and partners. With the Inktomi Enterprise Search Security Module, administrators can ensure that unauthorized documents do not appear in search results, preventing users from even learning of the existence of information that they are not authorized to access.
"Inktomi is working closely with our customers to provide a search solution that both delivers increased access to critical corporate information and provides strong document security," said Troy Toman, vice president and general manager, Inktomi Enterprise Search Solutions. "By addressing enterprise security requirements, the Inktomi Enterprise Search Security Module gives companies, such as Motorola, the confidence to provide knowledge workers with access to all the information they are entitled to, regardless of where it is located, through a single search box."
The Inktomi Enterprise Search Security Module enables integration with single sign-on security solutions and is fully compatible with Netegrity SiteMinder(R), the market-leading solution for securely managing user access to e-business Web sites.
