PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 2002
PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT) today announced more than 350 customers have licensed PeopleSoft's industry-leading Enterprise Portal since the solution was introduced one year ago. Companies around the world are choosing the PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal to connect people and businesses processes within and outside their organizations, improving collaboration and overall efficiency. This rapid customer adoption demonstrates PeopleSoft's tremendous momentum and leadership in the portal market.
"PeopleSoft's vision and global presence, combined with its pure internet technology and embedded business expertise, positions PeopleSoft as a strong competitor in the enterprise information portal (EIP) software market," said Brian McDonough, research manager for Knowledge and Content Management software research at IDC. "PeopleSoft's numerous EIP customer acquisitions demonstrate that PeopleSoft can address the needs of companies looking to move business processes to the internet."
Customers licensing the PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal in the last 12 months include: Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America, Home Depot, BEA Systems, Verizon Wireless, Freddie Mac, Interwoven, Lear Corporation, Pharmacia, and Sager Electronics.
Sager Electronics, a Massachusetts based electronics distributor, was looking for a solution that would give its customers, sales force and suppliers real-time access to critical order management information. "Our customer-facing portal, Sager Connect, will allow customers instant access to valuable information needed to do their jobs more efficiently," said Frank Flynn, president of Sager Electronics. "We are now in a better position to share more information with our customers, anticipate their needs, and ultimately provide the best customer service to them."
The PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal gives customers secure access to relevant business processes and content, improving productivity by reducing the amount of time users spend searching for unnecessary information. The portal's unique, open framework allows customers to easily integrate critical business content from departmental sites, enterprise management systems, analytic applications, email, calendars, and third-party content. Additionally, the Enterprise Portal allows users to input and manage their own portal content, minimizing IT involvement and reducing costs.
"The ability to connect participants directly to business processes is an imperative for organizations to operate in real-time," said Peter Gassner, vice president and general manager of PeopleSoft's PeopleTools division. "PeopleSoft's Enterprise Portal is a key component in enabling organizations to operate in real-time, providing immediate access to relevant content and processes -- anytime, anywhere."
