CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 2002

ATG (Art Technology Group, Inc., Nasdaq: ARTG), the leading developer of online CRM applications for e-commerce, portals, and relationship management, has announced that Lavazza, the world-famous brand of Italian coffee, has chosen the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite to consolidate the company's various online and e-business initiatives into a single, global portal at www.lavazza.com.

Lavazza will leverage the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite to improve its Web site with further online CRM capabilities, consolidate international Web sites in a common infrastructure, and develop new Web initiatives. Migration to the new global portal will provide a unique point of access for the company's customers, partners, and employees by providing a multi-language (English, Italian, German and French) public Web site that helps the company better manage relationships with these audiences.

The company will create an employee intranet linked to a multimedia database, as well as an extranet comprising two sections for "Food Service" and "Automatic Distribution." Each user will be registered when first accessing the site, and a profile of the user's online behavior will be created to provide greater customization of the information and services.

"We have chosen the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite as the software foundation of our global portal because of the innovative, Scenario Personalization and the ability to develop and support rich commerce functionality on top of the framework. ATG provides Lavazza with the reliability, security and scalability necessary to implement various online CRM initiatives," Mr. Claudio Bertin, Lavazza IT Systems Manager stated. "We are confident that the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite will enable us to continue to create new e-business projects, especially in the framework of B2B and to be more efficient in communicating with our employees and customers."

The new global portal will use ATG's Scenario Personalization(TM) to offer each user a customized mode of viewing inside the portal and a mode specific to their headquarters, business needs and online behavior.

"In addition to ensuring major flexibility and scalability, the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite provides us with the ideal infrastructure to consolidate our online presence in a single portal and improve our current offering of services and information," commented Bertin. "ATG proved to be the best application among the various solutions that were examined to develop our online presence, because the software enables our company to readily integrate dissimilar systems, but even more importantly, because this technology helps us to create more solid relationships with our customers and partners, providing them with only the information they really need."

"We are proud to be Lavazza's technology partner for such a complex and important global portal project," stated Massimo Cazzaniga of ATG. "With the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite, Lavazza can create a virtual marketplace where order transactions are guaranteed and fulfilled in the most efficient way, while enhancing its relationship management with internal and external audiences. By utilizing ATG's online CRM applications, Lavazza has the flexibility and scalability it needs to effectively serve customers, suppliers and employees in all geographical areas,"concluded Cazzaniga.

About Lavazza

Lavazza was founded in 1895, when Luigi Lavazza opened a small grocery store in Via San Tommaso, Italy. In 1927, after specializing in coffee roasting for the wholesale and retail trade, the firm became what is today known as Luigi Lavazza S.p.A.

In the early 1960s, Lavazza pioneered vacuum-packed ground coffee in Italy. The company's ability to preserve freshness was the key to winning the Italian coffee market. The 1980s were the years of Lavazza's expansion to the European markets. The first subsidiary was established in Paris in 1982, followed by those in Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, and the United States. Today, Lavazza operates in more than 70 countries worldwide.
