Highly Scalable Content Delivery Solution
Network Appliance, Inc. (Nasdaq:NTAP), a leading provider of network storage solutions, and IBM Global Services today announced they will provide Deutsche Telekom AG with the infrastructure to deploy the world's largest content delivery network for streaming media. Enabled by scalable NetApp(R) technology, Deutsche Telekom will provide its customers with high-quality streaming content and services. As a result, Deutsche Telekom will be able to create new service offerings through hosting and delivering audio and video streaming content and services and broaden its customer reach throughout the enterprise and entertainment markets.
IBM Global Services managed the integration of the Network Appliance(TM) streaming media delivery technology into Deutsche Telekom's network, one of the world's largest IP networks. The expanded infrastructure will enable Deutsche Telekom to store and deliver live and on-demand streaming content, such as training videos, corporate meetings, movies, music videos, and sporting events, for businesses and consumers.
Deutsche Telekom's new streaming network will be the most powerful of its kind. With its expanded network capabilities, Deutsche Telekom will add new revenue services on demand for hosting and delivering streaming content. Opportunities for enterprise customers will include internal and external corporate communications, e-learning, and Webcasts. Entertainment customers, for example, will be able to take advantage of subscription-based interactive entertainment.
"Network Appliance's content delivery solutions enable Deutsche Telekom to create a streaming network with the highest possible quality and security," said Roland Kittel, member of the board of management T-Com, Deutsche Telekom AG, Production and Service. "We have reached our goal to provide the appropriate platform for the enhancement of our service offerings."
