Quarry Technologies Achieves World's Highest IPsec VPN and Firewall Throughput; Exhibits Fastest Performance Ever Recorded In Independent Testing
Business Wire, March 18, 2002
Business/Technology Editors
BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 18, 2002
Quarry Technologies, an innovative supplier of intelligent network-security systems, today announced that in performance testing, conducted by The Tolly Group, its iQ8000(TM) Service Edge Switch attained full Gigabit Ethernet line rate per flow, while running encrypted Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), stateful firewalls and fine-grained traffic policing simultaneously, on every interface of a fully-configured device. No other system on the market has ever demonstrated such high-performance or uncompromising network security capabilities.
The Tolly Group, a leading independent networking industry test lab, ran the tests and reported the results. Engineers from Spirent Communications, a top supplier of performance analysis solutions, were on hand for the assessment, and assisted with the test equipment. A SmartBits 6000B system equipped with SmartFlow and new TeraVPN applications was used as the primary analysis tool. "Quarry Technologies' device performance was recorded up to full Gigabit Ethernet rate even while the high security IPsec standards of 3DES/SHA-1 were active." said Bahaa Moukadam, Spirent Communications, SmartBits Division, Vice President of Product Marketing. "Enabling additional services did not seem to have a negative impact on the system's throughput."
System latency under load, tunnel setup rate, and service management capabilities were also tested, and revealed outstanding results. For a copy of The Tolly Group Up-To-Spec Certification test summary visit Quarry Technologies' web site: www.quarrytech.com
"External validation of this level of IPsec VPN and Firewall performance is a significant achievement for Quarry Technologies," stated Kevin Mitchell, Directing Analyst, Service Provider Networks at Infonetics Research. "The independent system testing will assist service providers in choosing a solution that will enable them to deploy highly manageable and high-performance network security services."
In related industry news, the Quarry Technologies iQ-series Service Edge Switches were recently certified as having passed the Virtual Private Networking Consortium (VPNC) Basic and Rekeying conformance tests. According to the VPNC, the term "basic" implies that every IPsec implementation shipped today should possess the features verified by this test. Rekeying is considered an advanced feature. The Rekeying test determines a VPN gateway's ability to dynamically change encryption keys in order to prevent aggressive, sophisticated attackers from viewing too much data that has been encrypted with a particular key.
