AltaVista Adds Proven Management Talent to Media Sales Team

Chris Marrow and Chris Hulse Join as Managing Directors to Tap Resurgence in Online Advertising Spending by Major Advertisers Across
the U.S.
AltaVista(R) Company, a leading global provider of search services and software and a majority-owned operating company of CMGI, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMGI), today announced the addition of two veteran online media sales professionals to its Internet division's domestic sales team.
Chris Marrow has been named managing director of Sales for the Western U.S. region and Chris Hulse has been appointed to the same position for the Eastern U.S. region. Effective today, both recruits are responsible for managing major accounts and regional sales teams, driving increased advertising and sponsorship revenue across AltaVista.com.

"Chris Marrow and Chris Hulse have precisely the talent, experience and drive to ensure that AltaVista is an important part of both existing and new advertisers' marketing strategies going forward. Marrow brings more than 11 years of experience in media sales to AltaVista and will be located at the company's headquarters in Palo Alto, California. Marrow joins AltaVista from Digital Envoy where he was West Coast Sales director. Previously, he was national vice president of Sales and Business Development for Respond.com and Northwest vice president of Sales for Engage Inc., having joined Engage through its acquisition of Flycast Communications where he was senior director of West Coast Sales. Before that, Marrow was West Coast director for Softbank Interactive Marketing. He began his career in Sales with Ziff Davis Publishing and holds a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of California at Riverside.
Hulse is a veteran of both online and traditional direct advertising, most recently serving as director of Response Sales & Marketing for BrandAid Marketing, a specialty one-to-one Marketing firm. He was previously at Engage Inc., where he was senior director for East Coast Sales with the company's Media division, having joined Flycast in 1999 prior to its acquisition. Hulse's prior positions include account supervision and management posts at Madison Direct Marketing, Ltd. in Greenwich, Connecticut. He holds a B.S. in Business Economics and Finance from the State University of New York at Oneonta and will be located at AltaVista's New York sales office.
Marrow and Hulse join Tom Moorhead who is AltaVista's managing director for the Midwest U.S. region and inside sales, and is based in Chicago.
