HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 2002
The following is an advisory by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources Incorporated; Houston, Texas). When Ford Motor Company announced a major restructuring plan in January 2002, many who follow the industry closely gave a sigh of relief. Ford was finally taking the steps necessary to begin to retake its position in the industry and to regain consumer confidence. However, some of the moves they have been making have raised an eyebrow or two along the way. Despite the restructuring plan which includes the closure of up to seven plants in the next few years, Ford is still planning to spend some significant money expanding and revamping existing facilities plus constructing new distribution centers.
