WILSONVILLE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 2002
Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) will provide an estimated 5,600 color and black-and-white network printers to Atlanta-based Southern Company, a premier energy company and leading U.S. producer of electricity.
The energy powerhouse required a network printing solution that would produce quality internal documents and enhance communications with its employees and customers. Southern Company made the decision to purchase Xerox network printers based on the excellent print quality, speed, media-handling features, reliability and ease of use of Xerox printers.
"In examining products from different printer vendors, Xerox was voted the winner by our evaluation team, for the features, benefits and quality of Xerox network printers," said Julie Bishop, product expert, desktop technical support of Southern Company. "We finalized our decision to go with Xerox after speaking directly with its current customers - their enthusiasm for Xerox and its advanced printing technologies was undeniable."
Xerox network printers selected by Southern Company include the Xerox Phaser(R) 860 and Phaser 7700 color printers, and Phaser(TM) 3400, Phaser 5400, DocuPrint(R) N2125 and DocuPrint N4525 black-and-white printers.
"Xerox continues to develop fast, reliable and affordable color and black-and-white network printers," said Jim Miller, president, Xerox Office Printing Business. "Today's announcement demonstrates customers are continuing to choose Xerox for the most advanced printing technologies."
Southern Company has begun its initial deployment of Xerox printers and expects to install all units across the country over a three-year period, replacing competitor printers. Xerox network printers are available worldwide through Xerox resellers and dealers.
