Genuity Achieves Market Leadership Status for Managed Web Hosting
Business Wire, March 19, 2002
Business/Technology Editors
WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 2002
Genuity Inc., the leading provider of Internet infrastructure services and eBusiness Network Platforms, today announced that it has been ranked one of the top two companies in the industry in META Group's recently released METAspectrum(sm), a comprehensive evaluation of more than one dozen companies in the managed Web hosting services market.
The report is as an independent evaluation of the competitive Web hosting landscape conducted by META Group, a leading research and consulting firm that focuses on information technology and business transformation strategies.
"We are pleased with our favorable rating in the METAspectrum based on our vision and strategy, services, technology, execution, and reputation, among other items," said Jim Freeze, Genuity's senior vice president, chief marketing and strategy officer. "Genuity was one of the first companies to offer managed hosting, and we continue to provide customers with world-class managed hosting platforms for building and operating eBusiness solutions."
Genuity provides customers with a secure and reliable hosting environment that is supported by Class A data centers connected to Genuity's Tier 1 network, and monitored and managed by Genuity personnel 24x7. Managed hosting services are designed to work with other Genuity services such as storage, virtual private network (VPN), firewall security, and Internet access, to provide a solid foundation for eBusiness.
"We developed METAspectrum to enable IT professionals to quickly evaluate vendors based on their ability to deliver on the presence and performance criteria that matter most in a given market," said Corey Ferengul, Senior Program Director, META Group. "With the shift toward higher-value services in the Web hosting market, performance as demonstrated with existing customers is substantially more important than a vendor's market presence. Well-defined services and high levels of customer satisfaction are key in this space."
This new METAspectrum evaluation offers an objective assessment of companies providing facilities, infrastructure, and services used to house and operate/manage Web hosting and related activities in North America. METAspectrum ratings are based on a rigorous process that leverages multiple input sources - including primary end-user research, vendor surveys and interviews, secondary source analysis, overall market data, financial data, and industry-wide best practices - to provide companies with a fair evaluation of supplier strengths and weaknesses and a complete view into each vendor's relative leadership position.
