Strict Standards and Strong Accountability Ensure a High Level of
Information Security in Travel Technology Industry
e-Travel, the leading global provider of online travel technology, today announced that it has achieved TruSecure(R) Corporation's Perimeter 2001 Certification in North America. This certification, which covers the hosting operations for e-Travel Aergo (US) for corporations and business travel agencies, ensures that e-Travel meets TruSecure's high level of security and protection from external infiltration for its hosted customer information, and creates controls to define and enforce internal information technology policies and procedures. e-Travel is among the first companies in the travel industry to achieve this significant security milestone.
TruSecure Corporation is a leading managed security services provider (MSSP) that improves and maintains perimeter information security health through a comprehensive preventative program. The TruSecure Perimeter Certification confirms that e-Travel is effectively managing information security risk in its application service provider (ASP) model, providing travelers and businesses alike with high levels of data protection, and reducing both the company's costs and vulnerabilities. For ASP customers, particularly in industries such as financial services and technology, IT security is a critical requirement.
TruSecure has certified that e-Travel is in compliance with the 64 TruSecure Essential Practices that apply to its physical and electronic infrastructure. In order to maintain high standard levels, TruSecure will provide e-Travel with continued consulting and risk management services and update the company to new potential security risks as they occur. As part of the certification, e-Travel will test its technology systems through this security audit process every three months.
"TruSecure's perimeter services were created for companies, such as e-Travel, that have no tolerance for the corruption or loss of mission-critical data by malicious code exploits or human error," said Bob Flinton, director of product management at TruSecure. "We are enabling e-Travel to leverage the people and products already in place to improve ROI on security investments so that it can focus on its core business competencies."
The TruSecure Perimeter Certification is part of TruSecure's integrated security program that addresses the most significant sources of risk across all the dimensions of an organization, providing security assurance in six major areas of risk: electronic threats and vulnerabilities; malicious code; privacy; physical security; and human factors. TruSecure Perimeter delivers security improvement through a proprietary combination of patent-pending technology, vulnerability assessments, intelligence analysis and expert human support to offer an integrated and cost-effective solution.
"In step with the rapid growth of our business, e-Travel has developed a world-class hosting operation that is delivering consistently high levels of reliability, scalability and performance," said Geoff Teekema, e-Travel CIO. "The TruSecure Perimeter Certification confirms that we are maintaining high levels of information security and allows us to provide our customers with increased peace of mind."
