BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 2002
Onyx(R) Software Corporation (Nasdaq:ONXS) has been placed among top industry providers in Gartner Inc.'s B2B and B2C CRM Suites Magic Quadrant.
Based on Onyx's vision and ability to execute, Gartner placed Onyx in the Niche Player quadrant alongside seven other vendors in large enterprise CRM Suites.
Gartner defines Niche Players as those vendors who focus on a particular segment of the client base, as defined by characteristics such as size, vertical or project complexity. Their ability to outperform or innovate may be impacted by this narrow focus.
This year marks Onyx's debut on the Large Enterprise CRM Suites Magic Quadrant. A perennial leader in the mid-market, Onyx has succeeded in delivering a solution that is appropriate for large enterprises across a broad suite of verticals, including financial services, healthcare, utilities and high tech. Onyx focuses on companies with annual revenues between $100 million and $2 billion, as well as divisions of larger companies that are deploying solutions for thousands of users down to a few hundred users.
"Regardless of their size, companies today are looking for success -- real, measurable return on investment; flexible technology that can grow with their business; and the ability to move quickly to meet changing business needs," said Brent Frei, chief executive officer of Onyx Software. "By ranking us among the industry's top vendors for enterprise-level CRM, we believe Gartner has clearly recognized our ability to do all of these things. We are leveraging the expertise we've honed in the demanding mid-market to move forward in our efforts to deliver the same success in the large enterprise market."
Onyx has produced a track record of assisting large enterprise customers with their customer-centric initiatives. Representative customers include Dreyfus, Credit Suisse Financial Services, Softbank Commerce, RHB Bank, SAFECO Life & Investments, Delta Dental and The Regence Group.
Gartner is a research and advisory firm that helps more than 10,000 clients understand technology and drive business growth. Gartner's Magic Quadrant positions vendors in a particular market segment based on their vision and ability to execute that vision. The B2B and B2C CRM Suites Magic Quadrants assess and categorize major CRM vendors and place them in one of four quadrants: Leader, Challenger, Visionary or Niche Player.

The Magic Quadrant is Gartner's opinion and is an analytical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period. It measures vendors against Gartner-defined criteria for a marketplace. The positioning of vendors within a Magic Quadrant is based on the complex interplay of many factors. Gartner does not advise enterprises to select only those firms in the Leaders segment. In some situations, firms in the Visionary, Challenger, or Niche Player segments may be the right match for an enterprise's requirements. Well-informed vendor selection decisions should rely on more than a Magic Quadrant.
