Ballard Receives $2 Million Order From Nissan for Fuel Cells

Ballard Power Systems (NASDAQ:BLDP) (TSE:BLD) announced today it has received a $2 million order from Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. for Mark 902 fuel cell modules and support services, for delivery in 2002. The Mark 902 fuel cell module, introduced in October 2001, establishes a new standard of performance by optimizing lower cost, design for volume manufacture, reliability, power density and compatibility with customer system requirements.

Ballard Power Systems is recognized as the world leader in developing, manufacturing and marketing zero-emission proton exchange membrane ("PEM") fuel cells. Ballard is commercializing fuel cell engines for transportation applications and fuel cell systems for portable and stationary products ranging from 1 kilowatt to 250 kilowatts.
