Another Digimarc Patent Validated in Re-Examination; U.S. Patent Office Concludes Re-Examination of Third Patent Related to Verance Lawsuit, Expanding Number of Patent Claims

Digimarc Corp. (Nasdaq:DMRC), the leader in digital watermarking solutions, announced today that the U.S. Patent Office re-examination of Patent Number 5,850,481 has concluded with an award of 45 patent claims to Digimarc -- an increase of 8 claims over the 37 included in the patent as originally issued.
"This Patent Office action concludes the third patent re-examination out of four related to Digimarc's pending patent infringement litigation against Verance Corporation," said Bill Conwell, Digimarc's vice president of intellectual property. "For a third time, re-examination has concluded with an expansion of the number of claims infringed by Verance."
Patent Numbers 5,636,292; 5,832,119; and 5,850,481 have now been confirmed in Digimarc's favor. Re-examination of the fourth patent is continuing.
