Customers Deploying Documentum 4i Desktop Client via
Citrix(R)MetaFrameXP(TM)e Gain Enhanced Application Management,
Security and Time-to-Value
Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), a leader in virtual workplace software and services, today announced that Citrix(R) MetaFrame XP(TM) application serving software has been certified for use with enterprise content management software from Documentum (Nasdaq:DCTM), the leading provider of enterprise content management (ECM). Both companies participated in the testing process, involving the certification of the Documentum 4i Desktop Client running on Citrix MetaFrame XPe.
Customers deploying Documentum Desktop Client via MetaFrame XP can upgrade, manage and support the application centrally, reducing the overall total cost of ownership. Other key benefits include:
-- Improved Network Performance: The Citrix and Documentum alliance means users can access the Documentum Desktop Client over any network or communications protocol with enhanced performance and productivity--even over low-bandwidth connections. This expands the number of employees, partners, and other users contributing business-critical content. -- Enhanced Security: While Documentum provides multiple levels of security at the repository and content level, Citrix MetaFrame XP architecture enhances security over network connections, protecting customers' data and applications. To achieve secure Internet access, Citrix offers Citrix Secure Gateway (CSG) as a component of MetaFrame XPe. With CSG, all data traversing the Internet between the user's desktop and MetaFrame is encrypted, ensuring the privacy and integrity of information flow. MetaFrame XPe is also compatible with advanced network security firewalls. -- Browser Independence: MetaFrame XPe eliminates browser dependencies, allowing IT administrators to optimize, test, and deploy the Documentum Desktop Client to users across the enterprise without concern for an individual user's browser settings, plug-in settings, Java Virtual Machine, or security settings, saving time and money.
"Documentum is excited about expanding its relationship with Citrix. We have thoroughly tested the compatibility of the two products, ensuring that together we will exceed the expectations of our mutual customers," said Jay DeWalt, vice president of partner management for Documentum. "The certification of the Documentum Desktop Client with MetaFrame XPe offers a proven mechanism for streamlining and managing application deployment and delivering expanded enterprise content management capabilities securely to remote workers around the world."
Deployed through MetaFrame XP, the Documentum Desktop Client is accessible through a wide range of devices utilizing the Citrix Independent Computing Architecture (ICA)(R) client. Customers can also access the Documentum Desktop Client from any standard Web browser using Citrix NFuse(R) Classic, a member of the company's new access portal product family. NFuse Classic provides secure Web access to any Windows(R), UNIX(R) or Java application running on MetaFrame instantly without any code rewrites.
"As businesses revolve increasingly around the exchange of information, the timeliness, accuracy and automation of that process become vitally important," said Barry Davis, vice president, Business Development for Citrix Systems. "We're very pleased to announce the Documentum certification, and believe it will help our mutual customers accelerate application deployment, enhance security, and provide greater access to enterprise content management functionality over a broad range of networks and devices."
The Documentum platform allows companies to manage, distribute, and exchange large volumes of content within and beyond the enterprise - to customers, employees, partners and suppliers. MetaFrame XP, Citrix's most powerful application serving and management platform, offers exceptional growth and management capabilities to entire organizations from small workgroups to large enterprises. MetaFrame XP software is designed to support as many as 100,000 users on 1,000 or more servers.
