WILTON, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2002

Mercator(R) Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: MCTR), today announced the general availability of its XML Schema Importer Version 6.5.

The new importer makes it possible for customers to accelerate their complete XML integration solutions to production. With a single keystroke, customers can import an XML schema, automatically creating a complete graphic model of the structure of an XML document. That model can then be used to define business rules for content-based routing, validation, transformation, and process flows.

Customers have indicated plans to use the XML Schema Importer to accelerate their integration of legacy systems with new software that requires XML-formatted data, and to speed the creation of production links with business partners who have standardized on XML for their business-to-business (B2B) data exchanges.

Customer Jim Austin, SVP of Engineering at Qiva, said: "We're pleased that Mercator has boosted its robust XML integration capability to include XML schema support. Qiva is driving value for major international carriers through B2B collaboration, with real-time sharing of information between carriers, customers, and government bodies to facilitate cross-border logistics moves. We believe this latest innovation can help Qiva increase its internal pace of innovation and our customers' ease of implementation." Qiva is a provider of global logistics and trade management solutions.

"We developed the XML Schema Importer in response to the expanding use of XML across our customer base," said Mercator CTO David Linthicum. "By extending our XML importer suite to support XML schema and Data Type Definitions (DTDs), Mercator now delivers one of the most comprehensive XML integration solutions on the market today."
