SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2002
Demonstration features Stellar One's robust and highly flexible ConnectTV client software, developed on the Microsoft Windows XP Embedded operating system, running on Fujitsu-Siemens Computers (FSC) ACTIVY 300 Media Center hardware platform with a dynamic user interface based on Macromedia Flash, and delivering secured interactive video over IP and Cable through the Irdeto Access CypherCast IP conditional access platform.
Stellar One, a leading developer of interactive television software and platform solutions over broadband networks, announced today a strategic relationship with industry leaders Microsoft, FSC, and Irdeto Access to integrate technologies for the demonstration of a highly flexible interactive television client platform at this year's NCTA, May 5-8 in New Orleans.
The dynamic display will demonstrate IP television and Cable, video on demand (VOD), Digital Video Recording (DVR), internet and email services delivered through the ConnectTV client software on FSC's ACTIVY 300 Media Center hardware platform. ConnectTV benefits from the superior multimedia capabilities of Windows XP Embedded to deliver feature rich digital services. The seamless integration of Macromedia Flash Player with the operating system, allows ConnectTV to offer a dynamic and flexible client interface. The delivery of these services is strengthened by content protection provided by the Irdeto CypherCast encryption technology which supplies content owners and network operators with full conditional access functionality.
"The proven expertise provided by these elite group of technology leaders, allows ConnectTV to deliver the highest quality and most flexible interactive TV client solution available," said Lorne Rubis, chief executive officer for Stellar One. "The flexibility provided by merging these technologies allows for greater breath of services and easier integration, reducing time to market and high development costs for customers. This is the value proposition of using a solution set that includes the ConnectTV platform."
"Companies in the interactive TV industry are working hard to find the best ways to deliver innovative services and content to their customers," said Keith White, senior director, Embedded and Appliance Platforms Group, Microsoft Corp. "The rich connectivity and multimedia technologies in Windows XP Embedded allow Stellar One and its partners to focus on adding value and meeting the unique demands of their customers."
The demonstration can be viewed in Booth #3647 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans where NCTA will take place May 5th through 8th, 2002.
